Thicker plexiglass strangely enough allows for the simplest of the cutting processes.
Cutting plastic sheets by hand.
First grab a metal ruler and a utility knife preferably one with a brand new blade.
Using your ruler as a guide run a plastic scoring blade along the cutting line trying to make one continuous line with gentle even pressure.
Place a corresponding mark on the side parallel to the side that you marked previously.
With the sheet of plexiglass clamped in place on the work surface apply quick downward pressure to break off the piece that you cut.
Score the line in the acrylic with a plastic scoring blade.
Pull the blade towards you along the line.
Measure along the side of the thin plastic sheet and place a mark with the felt tipped marker at the length you need to cut the plastic sheet.
All you need is a thin acrylic sheet a straight edge that is longer than your cut clamps and a scoring knife.
It features a double bevel scoring edge for clean consistent cuts and a rounded handle that helps fight hand fatigue for comfort and control.
Clamp down the straight edge on the cut line.
The plastic sheet cutting knife is designed for use on lexan polycarbonate sheets and other plastic materials.
You can use 1 hand to brace the sheet while you push down on the sheet with the other hand.
The sheet should break cleanly along the line that you scored in it.
Cutting acrylic by hand is the easiest way to go for a beginner who isn t familiar with power tools.
Step 4 set the steel ruler onto the thin plastic sheet aligning one edge with the marks you made in step 3.
